LIFE ROLES

Parents, students and staff developed the following life roles because we believe the life roles our students should be able to assume are based upon how they are able to accept and carry out responsibilities. Responsibilities fall into five areas as outlined below with their varied parts listed under each. One's first responsibilities are to God and comprise the background from which all others are derived and carried out.

I. RESPONSIBILITIES TO GOD

  • Worships God as Creator.
  • Acknowledges and accepts God as Savior and Friend.
  • Shares with others what God has done and is doing in one's life.
  • Recognizes that we are merely stewards of this world and all the blessings God gives.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES TOWARD SELF

  • Maintains sound spiritual health through daily prayer and Bible study.
  • Maintains a sound body and mind through a healthy lifestyle.
  • Is a lifelong learner that:
    • Uses positive core values to create a positive vision for themselves and their future.
    • Sets priorities and achievable goals, creating options for themselves.
  • Monitors and evaluates their progress, and assumes responsibility for their actions.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES TOWARD ONE'S FAMILY

  • Recognizes God's purpose and role in the family.
  • Demonstrates respect for others in all interpersonal relationships.
  • Nurtures the physical and emotional well-being of the family members and serves as a caregiver.
  • Maintains reciprocal, supportive relationships within the family.
  • Models responsible mature behavior.

IV. RESPONSIBILITIES TOWARD A GLOBAL COMMUNITY

  • Recognizes and accepts the role they have to assist in the mission of a global church to carry the gospel to all the world.
  • As an individual, they must:
    • Understand and respond appropriately to the rules of society.
    • Respect the rights of others.
    • Be a responsible consumer who manages personal finances effectively.
    • Recognize and respect differing interests and cultures.
    • Contribute positively through their time, energies and talents to improve their community, state, nation and world.

V. RESPONSIBILITIES AS A WORKER

  • Is a quality producer who creates intellectual, artistic, practical and physical products, which reflect originality, high standards and the use of advanced technologies.
  • Achieves self-fulfillment through work.
  • Has skills to earn a livelihood and be an economic asset to society.
  • Demonstrates work ethic through integrity, dependability and honesty.
  • Cooperates effectively as a team member.
